LOV on Hierarchy Node- BICS connection

Hi All,

 

I have a issue in hierarchy node selection through dashboard, and query, let me explain it with an example.

 

I have a Info object called ZINFO_OBJECT which has 4 level of hierarchy(level 1 till level 4, Level 4 being the actual value posted in Cube level)

now this info object has hierarchy prompt being used in both Bex query as well as Dashboard.

 

but the Business is looking for is, in dashboard they just wanted to see level 1 till level 3 in hierarchy node variable prompt

where as in BEx they are expecting to see all the nodes in a variable.

 

Exp: ZINFO_OBJECT--> Level 4 -->area code( values-- MMR, ABC, XYZ)

         Level 3-- > Market

         Level 2 --> Region

         Level 1--> All

 

in dash board they wanted to select the hierarchy variable prompt till market (they do not want to see Area code distributed).

in Query they wanted to see variable prompt till Area Code.

 

Please let me know any idea on how to achive it, any thing we can put it in dashboard or in Query level.

Getting rid of special characters

Hi All,

 

I have generated a dashboarad upon a spreadsheet where i am getting "-" in the dashboard if there is no data within the spreadsheet.

what i am looking is empty space within the dashboard if there is no data within the spreadsheet.

can anyone pls suggest me with possible solutions.

Xcelsisus 2008 Crashing

To Whom It May Concern,

I just had Xcelsius installed on my computer. I am having many issues with the program crashing once I load any larger amount of data into it. Is it a compatibility issue? Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening? Errors are consisting of:

 

"An error occurred while communicating with Microsoft Excel. To prevent further data corruption, Xcelsius must close."

 

"Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Xcelsius\Xcelsius.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the application's support team for more information"

I need to create a Dashboard based on webi report through Webservice option.

1. Please let me know how to create the same.

2. How to limit the data set in Webi and performance tuning so as not to get more data into Dashboard.

3. Any performance tuning methods .

4. How to pass prompt values from Dashboard to Webi.

5. Any best practices.

How to configure the mobile WEBI reports and Dashboards?

Hi All,

 

 

My client wants to access reports (webi and Dash boards) from Ipad/Iphone, so which App he needs to install  and server side should I  install anything.

 

If  he launch pad from  safari and log in  he is able to see webi reports  but   he could not see dash board , by default there is no flash in Iphone/Ipad , should i download  any App for flash  or how to do it?.

How to Use BEX User Exit Variables with Dashboard Query Browser?

We are trying to identify the user executing dashboard on load query so that we can personalize the content.

 

We are familiar using abap user exit EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001 that we code to set sy-uname  to bex variable variable ZVAR_BO_USERID

The bex variable is defined as user exit and ready for manual input. This works as expected in BEx Web -  the BW user id is filled in bex prompt variable ZVAR_BO_USERID

So, we created olap connection on this bex query using SSO authentication.

The problem:

 

When we add this bex query as olap connection in dashboard as query browser, and run thru the wizard, it prompts to  select an entry for ZVARUSERID.

 

If we select an entry, say LLEWIS, this is the value returned in the dashboard in runtime instead of the user executing the dashboard
(BW sy-uname), i.e  Logged on user ESMITH gets value LLEWIS. Seems this selection is retained in query browser as the input value for the dsahboard in runtime???? If in query browser, we do not enter a value for the bex variable, the query browser loops endlessly and we see this in BW SM50 and must kill the query browser wizard,

A quick dsahboard example hopefully shows the problem

 

In the Dashboard query browser, I last edit of the olap conneciton, I had to enter a value for the Bex query value for variable ZVAR_BO_USERID, else the wizard will just spin forever, so here I selected userid WSHAW and saved query. I mapped query columns to spreadsheet, then to text component.

 

When I run the dashboard from the BOE server I am logged into BI Luanch pad as Lee Lewis,

The query runs on load, but returns the query information for userid WSHAW and not the sy-uname (LLEWIS) as expected from the BW user exit - EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001.

Tried using a prompt in dashboard query designer, but since this is on load, we don't have any values to pass to Bex, again the goal being to identify the user that is executing the Bex query via SSO OLAP connectin from dashboards..

 

   

Are BW user exits supported in Dashboards BI4 SP04 Patch5?

 

ugh!  I thought we had it!  Any help is appreciated, even you can confirm this is impossible!

Web Service promotion process BI4

Hi,

I have published a couple of Web Intelligence blocks/Tables as a Web Service. I'm using it as a connection in a Dashboard.

Dashboard Connection type: Web Service Query (Query as a Web Service)

 

The Dashboard is working fine and it has been deployed to the BO4 Development environment. What I want to know is how is this going to work when I promote the Webi Report (with the web services) to the BO4 Production environment, as I needed to copy the WSDL URL manually into the Dashboard connection in order to import it and set it up. The WSDL URL is using the BO4 Development Web Application Server and I dont have an option to put it in a Flash Variable to change it once the Dashboard has been promoted to Production.

 

Does it mean the Dashboard doen't get promoted at all between environments, but redeployed directly to each environment (DEV, QA, PROD) once I have manually changed the WSDL URL to point to the right Web Application Server?

SAP Dashboards license

Hi!

 

I have the dashboard as swf-file and I believe it was built with a trial version of SAP Dashboards 4.0 (Version 6.0.5.0 build 14,0,5,882). I'm going to integrate this dashboard as swf-file into my customer's corporate portal (and data must be updated via xml connection in real-time).

I have some questions about licensing.

 

1. Should my customer buy any license (maybe any kind of viewing license)?

2. Where can I find information about license options? I want to know the total cost of ownership for this product.

3. If my customer wants to buy this software to support dashboard - which version we should buy? I can't find exactly SAP Dashboards 4.0 in sap store. I believe that SAP Crystal Dashboard Design is the same but I'm not sure (and I think we must buy departmental edition).

Fix dashboard size in BI Launchpad

Hi,

 

I build one dashboard in Dashboard designer 4.0 and exported into BO Enterprise 4.0.

But when I open dash board in BI Launch pad,  we lose control over canvas size  and its not like professional looking.

 

Could you please suggest is it required any page setup use to do in BI launch pad / CMC level.

Live Office argument cannot be null

Hi

 

I need to create a live office report. The webi report imported to EXCEL has a date prompt. I can refresh the report in Lauch Pad without any date prompt problem, but when  I imported the same report to EXCEL, and tried to refresh the live office report. It showed "Failed to get the document information.(Lo 26315). Argument cannot be null.(Error:RWI 00010) error", even though I gave the prompt argument which is a date selected from Calender.

 

Can any one please help on this issue

Max Rows Retrieved property - Webi BI4.0 SP6

So, we just installed BI 4.0 SP6 in a Sandbox environment.  I don't know if its a bug, but I create a simple query that returns a certain number of rows from the database.  The rows are returned but they do not display in my webi report.  The same query written in SP5 patch 2, return the same rows and displays them.  The Max rows retrieved property in both queries is unchecked so there should be no limit on the number of rows displayed.  Is this a bug with SP6?  Is there some default number of rows that can display?

Enlarge the chart size into desktop in Dashboard

Hi,

 

We are building one dash board with  6 charts. Now our client is asking, when the user clicks on particular chart then that chart can get enlarge & show it in desktop size then when he press 'Esc'  it use to go normal size.

 

Could you please suggest me is there any feature available in Dashboard designer 4.0 to do like this.

dashboards won't load

Hi,

I have a problem when I try to view the dashboards.

The dashboard get stucked in the initializing screen.

I restart the SIA and check all the servers in the CMC and everything looks fine.

I dont know if this is database issue or a problem in the BO platform.

 

Any advice??

Support for flash variable connectivity on Ipad

Hi All,

 

I am having two dashboards which are connected using flash variables. I want to use the same on Ipad .

In dashboard design sp05  data manager it is shown that connections are not supported for mobile devices.

 

Is there any work around for this as i am also using using webi reports through live office connectivity.

Hi

I am using bex as a design tool for my query. I am putting the values from bex query to excel sheet and on excel sheet i am having my prompt cell such as years. My dashboard is working fine for all my dashboards in prematurity stages but dont know what happen near maturity stage. The below error occurs when I preview my dashboard, creating swf file. It started happening to all my dashboards linked to bex query. Once i remove the connection of prompt cell from the excelsius. The dashboard works fine without any errors.

 

My question why this doesn't happen in start and now error is occuring. Previously i was using dashboard version 4 when error occured then i read threads in which some one told that in latest versions the issue is addressed, now using version six but the same problem

Your suggestions and solutions appreciated and points will be awarded.

Dashboards in iPad and Query as a Web Service

Hello

 

I just started using Dashboards on the iPad (using BOBJ Edge BI 4.0 SP06 ) with the iPad, Just tried an example and works perfectly. The situation is when i try connecting with Query as Web Service. I can see perfectly in the LaunchPad but not in the iPad. What connectivity is supported ?
